Alexis MacDonald is a leader in the non-profit and post-secondary sectors. Based out of Toronto, Alexis is currently the Senior Development Executive in the Advancement Department at St. Francis Xavier University (StFX), where she raises funds for her alma mater in Nova Scotia. Passionate about equity and social change, Alexis has successfully raised millions of dollars for various causes. Prior to StFX, Alexis helped establish the Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF), a respected international charity that has funded over 200 community-based HIV & AIDS initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa. With nearly 20 years at the SLF, Alexis held many senior roles, including Director of External Relations, Director of Programmes, and Acting Executive Director. On the side, Alexis is a professional photographer. She was the lead photographer for the best-selling book “Powered by Love”. Alexis also ran twice as a candidate for federal office in 2004 and 2006.
Alexis holds a First Class Honours degree in Psychology from StFX and received a gold-medal at Dalhousie University for her Masters in Public Administration.
