Countdown to Impact X!

Pitch Competition

St. Francis Xavier University is hosting the first-ever Impact X Pitch Competition  for students channelling their entrepreneurship mindset and skills for social change. Students will have the opportunity to pitch their social change venture ideas and compete for over $10,000 in prize money!

Participants will pick their stream – early-seed or late-seed – and then decide if they want to compete in the 1 min elevator pitch OR the 7-min pitch.

Fear not – if you aren’t ready to pitch an idea, you can still apply to attend Impact X.

Two Streams

Impact X participants are to identify in their application which stream they would like to participate and pitch in:

Early-Seed Stream

The Early-Seed stream is for students or teams with entrepreneurial ideas that are still in the very early stages of development. These ideas are typically conceptual, with minimal or no formal structure around the business plan, prototype, or market research. Participants in this division are at the stage of exploring their idea’s feasibility, identifying target markets, and beginning the early work of shaping their concept into a viable business. This stream will give you the option to participate in the 1-min Pitch Competition and attend the Ideas Generation workshop Pitching for Rookies workshop.

Late-Seed Stream

The Late Seed stream is for students or teams whose entrepreneurial ideas have moved beyond the initial concept stage and have started to take shape. While the venture has not yet been launched or received much funding, participants have made significant progress in areas such as market validation, prototype development, and refining their business model. This stream is for those who are closer to turning their idea into a market-ready venture. This stream will give you the option to participate in the 7-min Pitch Competition and attend the Business Modelling workshop Pitching for Veterans workshop.

Your Pitching Category

Bssed on the participant’s selected stream, participants will have the option to pitch in:

1-Minute Pitch Category:  Ideal for those who want to make a quick, impactful presentation. The focus is on clearly stating the problem, your innovative solution, and its social impact – without any pitch decks or visual aids. This category is for the early-seed stream.

7-Minute Pitch Category:  A more in-depth presentation supported by a pitch deck. Participants are expected to dive deeper into their business model, social impact, customer discovery, and competitive landscape. Visual aids such as prototypes or product demos are encouraged but not mandatory. A strong emphasis is placed on storytelling. This category is for the late-seed stream.
